Turning compassion into action

Question
How do you build a digital experience that inspires collective action for animals in need?
Answer
By creating a platform rooted in behavioural insights, using hopeful storytelling and clear engagement pathways to encourage different audiences to support the cause in ways both big and small.
YODA (Youth Organisation in Defence of Animals) is a Mumbai-based, non-profit animal welfare organisation focused on emergency rescue, treatment, rehabilitation, adoption and protection of free-roaming animals. Through volunteering programmes, corporate initiatives, and workshops, YODA has established a strong ecosystem within the city, with ambitions to extend its impact pan-India.
As YODA grew, they needed a more contemporary, distinctive, and strategically structured website designed to encourage greater participation in animal welfare.
Before designing the website, we started with understanding the landscape and mapped how other NGOs spoke to Mumbai. We found that each leaned in either one of these directions - co-existence, emotion, or information, and often laced it with guilt or urgency. That helped us identify a gap that YODA could fill perfectly: not another voice asking people to feel more, but the city's animal action ecosystem, where we turn the compassion that already exists into something people could actually do.
We built this into YODA's philosophy, Action with Heart. Compassion is everywhere in Mumbai. What's rare is the courage to act, and that's the gap YODA exists to close. So instead of guilt or distress, every touchpoint was designed to show people that helping is simple, that it's already within reach, and that it becomes second nature once you know how.
