Unleashing the wild side of a boutique design studio

Question
How do you capture a design studio’s endless creativity in its web presence?
Answer
You treat the website as a canvas to create an expressive, instinctive and immersive experience.
Roar is a bold, boutique architecture and interior design studio based in Dubai, since 2013. Known for crafting immersive spatial experiences, the studio blends untamed creativity with deep empathy, bringing a distinctive “wow” factor to every project. But while their work was expressive and globally awarded, their digital presence told a far quieter story. Despite rapid growth and international recognition, Roar’s website didn’t reflect the wild, and emotionally driven identity that defined their work.
Simply put, it wasn’t “roar-ing” enough.
To reimagine Roar’s digital presence as a true extension of its philosophy, we designed the website beyond simply showcasing work. We presented their portfolio in a compelling, immersive way while capturing the brand’s distinct duality - 50% wild, 50% tame and translating their empathetic, human-first approach to design into an interactive experience.
Where the landscape shapes visual language
The website’s voice extends far beyond words, it’s embedded in every interaction, transition, and visual choice. A voice that roars, not whispers becomes the guiding principle, shaping an experience built as a series of intentional moments, where each element stands on its own while flowing seamlessly with scroll and motion.
We redefined traditional scrolling by introducing a multi-directional navigation system powered by scroll-based interactions. Inspired by Arabic right-to-left reading patterns, the experience subtly reflects Roar’s presence in Gulf cities.
Using parallax effects and layered transitions, we created a narrative-driven experience that blends traditional Middle Eastern elements with artistic and abstract imagery, particularly wildcats as a recurring visual, adding a layer of playfulness and personality.
To bring out the “roar,” we built a dynamic tech using HTML, CSS, jQuery, and PHP–Laravel backend, with ScrollMagic enabling fluid, on-scroll interactions that made the experience feel alive.
